At High Point Tree Service, Inc. We implement Tree Care Industry
Association's (TCIA) Model Company Safety Program along with the
Tailgate Safety Program into our weekly safety meetings and daily
start up procedures. We have certified line clearance personnel
that have successfully completed the Electrical Hazards Awareness
Program along with CPR and First Aid. We continue our goals
towards safety through education and daily practices.
LET'S TALK INSURANCE
Most Tree Care Company's claim to be FULLY INSURED but are
they? The truth is some barely have their vehicles insured, and
that is at state minimums. Below is a guide to show you what type
of insurance a TREE SERVICE COMPANY should provide. Lets
start by saying a Tree Service Company should have tree service
insurance, not landscapers insurance or some other type just
because it is a cheaper less expensive policy. Only a Tree Service
Insurance policy will cover a claim in the event of an accident. Yes
we all want to save a buck, but at whose expense? Lets please
review the proper insurance requirements.
GENERAL LIABILITY - there should be a minimum of 500,000
coverage in this area, preferably 1,000,000 / 2,000,000
COMMERCIAL AUTO - coverages should be the same amounts in this
area.
WORKERS COMPENSATION
This insurance is sometimes overlooked by the consumer but
should not be taken lightly. If someone working on your property
was injured and was not covered by workers compensation you
may be held liable for all medical and related expenses. That is
why workers compensation is required by law, to protect the
consumers and employees rights.
You should always ask for an insurance certificate and it should be
mailed or faxed to you to ensure its authenticity. It should not be
handed to you directly. If you have any doubts of the certificates
validity you should call the providing agent to confirm.
